What is Community Supported Agriculture?

Community Supported Agriculture (C.S.A.) is a localized food system that directly links farmer and consumer. It is a relationship which benefits everyone. Farmers share the risks of weather and “varmints” with shareholders, and the shareholders enjoy the freshest organic produce possible. The land is carefully managed with consideration for future generations moving us all a step closer to a more sustainable form of agriculture. In exchange for their financial support, shareholders receive a box of organic veggies and a newsletter with recipes each week at one of several convenient drop-off sites.

What are the Benefits of a CSA Share?

Shareholders receive a box of veggies each week from early June to mid-October. The box usually contains 10-15 different items including all of the regulars plus herbs, heirlooms and a few unusual varieties. Shareholders receive a newsletter each week filled with information about the fruits/veggies in their share, recipes, news from the farm, notices of upcoming events, poetry and my ramblings. Our veggies are FRESH! Unlike the store bought produce it is harvested and in your hands in under 24 hours… more flavorful and more nutritious. Shareholders can participate in events at the farm like our Spring Hoe-Down and Autumn Harvest Festival. We also encourage you to come on out, get your fingernails dirty, enjoy a swim in the pond, a sweat in the sauna, or canoe the Chippewa. Shareholders join with us in learning the rhythms of the land and eat “in the season”. Shareholders may also purchase extra amounts of beets, tomatoes, carrots, onions, potatoes or peppers for canning/freezing. Shareholders support an agricultural system that leaves our farms and communities better than we found them.

Full Share or Half Share?

The names are a bit of a misnomer;  A Half Share is actually more than half of a Full Share during the heart of the summer.  The Half Share is a 5/9th bushel box of produce and typically feeds two adults with mixed diets.  The Full Share is just over a bushel and feeds a typical family of four with mixed diets.  For the most part, the same produce goes into both share types each week  however, if we have a small quantity of something, as often happens just as tomatoes reach ripeness, the Full Shares get priority.  The Full Shares often have twice as much of around half of the items.  If you are unsure, we recommend starting with a half share and, if you feel you need more, you can upgrade at any point in the season.

For the 2019 Season the cost is:

$635 for a "Full" Share

$435 for a "Half" Share

We have several payment plans and are adding drop-sites regularly.  Click the "Join our CSA" button below for more details.
